Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy

Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy

Dissidia 012 is my favorite fighting game of all time. It was made in 2011 for the Playstation Portable by Square Enix. And since it was a psp exclusive, the game didn’t sell very well, since the psp wasn’t the greatest in sales. But, people are missing out! If you are a Final Fantasy fan, this game is a must play!

Dissidia was a cross-over with every major main character in the FF series. Characters from FF I all the way to FF XIII. 012 was a prequel game that came with extra content and the original Dissidia. The game has a total of 31 playable characters. The gameplay was a 3D fighter similar to the newly released Jump Force, but better.

Each character had there own story to play through, interacting with characters from the other games. Want Cloud and Lightning to team up against Jecht and Cloud? Do it! The protagonists are on the side of Cosmos, and the antagonists are fighting for Chaos. Each having there own ideals and goals. I personally liked playing as Zidane from FF IX and Lightning from XIII, the most.

If you have a psp and you want a really good game to play, get Dissidia! You can get it somewhere pretty cheap.

Metro Redux

Metro Redux promotional
“Wow, a first person shooter? Thought you were talking about good games Noah?!” Yeah, I am. The Metro series of games is one I just recently played, and wow, these games are awesome. I played the Metro Redux version of the games.

The Metro games are based off of the Metro series of books: Metro written by Dmitry Glukhovsky . The events of the redux games are based off of Metro 2033 and Metro 2034. You do not need the books to understand the games. The gameplay is a survival horror first person shooter. Conserving ammo and finding supplies is a big factor and really insists you take your time with the game. Spray and pray strategies will not save you here, due to the fact ammo is scarce. Finding the weak spot of your enemy is very important.

Metro reminds me of the experimental times of the early 2000s when games were trying to figure out what wqs popular with people. The developers really did a good job making a game with great atmosphere to make you feel like you’re in a post apocalyptic setting.

Octopath Traveler

Octopath Traveler cast

Octopath Traveler is a jrpg developed by Square Enix, and it released back in summer of 2018. Now despite my page being about games nobody played, this game actually sold pretty well. But I want more people to know about it. So here we go.

Octopath Traveler’s gameplay is pretty simple, and very reminiscent of early jrpgs back in the 90s. It’s a turn based combat system, and there are multiple characters with different abilities.

The story revolves around 8 characters, each going on there own journey and travels. At the start of the game you can choose who to begin the game with. From left to right in the pic above the characters are: 1. Ophilia, a church cleric 2. Tressa, a young merchant girl 3. Alfyn, a kind apothecary 4. Olberic, a retired legend 5. Primrose, a beautiful dancer 6. Haanit an expert huntress 7. Cyrus, an ex – teacher and 8. Therion, a mysterious thief. Each character has there own reason for traveling, and a gripping story to tell. If you’re into old school rpgs from the 90s, try this out.

Paragon

Paragon box art

Paragon was a third person shooter MOBA being developed by Epic Games. Notice I’m saying was. Paragon was released as a free to play game on the PS4 and PC in 2016. Unfortunately it was shut down by Epic in 2018, due to the success of Fortnite.

Zinx

Like Smite, gameplay differed depending on the character you choose. Each character has there own powers and abilities to use. I chose a combat medic type of character Zinx, she had an energy pistol that can charge up, and had an ability to drain enemy health to go to mine.

I wish I had more info on this game, but as for a story, there wasn’t really much to talk about. Most of the game was in a beta, and with the success of Fortnite, most of the developers were shifted to work on that game instead. Thankfully, Epic games released most of the game’s assets for the public to work with. Currently the community is remaking Paragon, although in its early stages, it is slowly but surely coming back.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR)

Kotor box art

A long, long, long, time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars is one of the greatest pieces of entertainment of all time, and it still is very popular and still has new movies and other media being made today. Back in 2003, game developers Bioware teamed up with Lucas Arts to create a starwars game like no other at the time. This game was Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It was released for the Xbox, PC, and mobile devices.

Kotor is a role playing game. You create your own character at the beginning, and control your character throughout the game. It was a simple real time rpg with combat that was pretty simple and fun to play with. But where this game stood out was the narrative, and the characters you meet in your journey.

The game takes place over 4000 years before the original movie trilogy. Which if you’re a Star Wars lore nerd, is when the Sith split from the Republic, and the beginning of the classic light vs. dark story. You wake up from your sleep in a Republic ship as it is getting assaulted by Sith starships. You proceed to escape down the battles scarred corridors of the Endar Spire, and eventually you meet up with Carth Onasi, one of the greatest pilots in the Republic navy. Both of you escape seconds before the ship explodes and land on a nearby planet called Taris. While knocked out, you have a strange dream about a group of jedi taking down sith troopers and leaders, and you see a strange woman. After that, Carth tells you to go with him and find a jedi named Bastilla. It would be a lot easier to find her, if Taris wasn’t taken over by Sith. Do they find her? Well play the game to find out! The rest the story is up to you to decide.

Kotor is currently $10 on the Xbox One game store. If you have an Xbox One system, it is an awesome purchase!

Tales of the Abyss

Tales of the Abyss box art

Tales of the Abyss(TOTA) was originally released on the Playstation 2 in October of 2006 and for the 3Ds in 2012. I played the 3Ds version. When I first bought the game, it was mainly out of curiosity and I wanted another jrpg to play. I did not expect the game to be good. But oh my goodness I was wrong.

TOTA’s story revolves around a Duke’s son named Luke. Luke has been living in his home city his entire life, and has never been allowed to leave due to an event that caused him to lose all of his childhood memories. But at the beginning of the game, Luke is supposedly kidnapped by a mysterious woman named Tear. Tear took Luke to the opposite side of the world, supposedly to “save him”. Since he has never left his city, the world is quite literally new to him. Does he make it back? Well play the game!

The gameplay of TOTA feels very nice and crisp. Combat is fast and in real time, so if you slack off, you are going to die. Over time, you will eventually get more party members to play as and team up with. You can do attacks that combine with other attacks, completely changing the attack.

Tales of the Abyss is truly a good game if you have a 3DS or Playstation 2, It really is a good game if you want a good jrpg to play, and it takes a while beat as well. I hope you try the game out.

The World Ends With You

TWEWY box art.

Play this game or face erasure.

The World Ends With You (TWEWY)was released in 2007, and devoloped by Square Enix, Jupiter, and H.a.n.d. It originally was released as a Nintendo D.S. game, but was re-released on iOS devices in 2012, Android devices in 2014, and the Nintendo Switch in 2018. I played the Android and Switch versions.

The story of TWEWY revolves around an anti-social 15 year old kid Neku Sakuraba. In the beginning of the game, Neku wakes up in Tokyo, Japan in Shibuya. But he soon realizes something is off. No one notices him, and people start walking through him, like he doesn’t exist. Neku doesn’t remember how he got there, or what happened the day before. All he remembers is his name. He later learns he is a contestant is the Reapers Game, a contest that people who have died in the real world compete to have a chance to return to the real world, or, well, die. Think of it as a purgatory game show.

Over the course of the story he meets many friends and enemies,And eventually learns he needs to open up to other people, and work together. Does he make it? I’m not telling you!

Gameplay screenshot from Android

Game play revolves completely on your touchscreen. Neku can do hundreds of different attack from slashes and punches, to fire and lightning. For most of the game you are partnered up with a friend. In the screen above, Neku is in the middle, and his partner Joshua is his partner. Doing a slash down on your touchscreen queues Joshua to throw many different objects like bikes at the target. You can equip up to 6 different attacks on Neku, each doing different attacks. Tapping on the screen can fire lasers, and pressing on an enemy can engulf them in flames! Once you and your partner attack in sync, you can execute a super powerful attack, dealing major damage and healing your lost health.

Twewy is such a good game. I wish more people played the game to show the developers they did a great job, and maybe inspire them to make a sequel. Please play this game. The cheapest version of the game is on mobile devices for about $17.99. If you want a really good phone game. Play The World Ends With You.

Good games nobody played!

Hi there! My name is Noah Crips. I’m 20 years old and currently in college. I’ve decided to create a blog about video games not a lot of people played. I’ve been gaming practically my entire life, and played a lot of games. A lot of the games I’ve played are really good, but I then learned not a lot of people played them. My goal on this blog is to shed some light on these games and recommend them to people looking for awesome games to play. This is my first blog, so bear with me if I make some mistakes!
